Purpose: The History Department of Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, invites applicants for an adjunct lecturer position (non-tenure-track) to teach one course in spring quarter of 2017. The course will be HIST 161: Modern Mexico, offered Tuesday/Thursday 2:00-3:40 pm. Each quarter is 10 weeks long with an 11th week for final examinations. Salary: $6,500 per course. Not benefits eligible.
Basic Qualifications: (1) Academic: Ph.D. in History or a related area; ABD acceptable. (2) Teaching: Evidence of aptitude for teaching History at the university level, with preference to candidates with prior experience in Latin American History.
Responsibilities: Teaching duties include but are not limited to: 1. Teaching the assigned section during spring quarter 2. Conducting all assigned class meetings and grading all assignments 3. Holding weekly office hours on campus 4. Assigning and submitting student grades to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline 5. Administering numeric and narrative evaluations as determined by the chair 6. Fulfilling other academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the History Department
