Under general supervision and following established practices, policies, and guidelines, the Revenue Cycle Specialist II provides Medi-cal outpatient billing and collections support to Patient Financial Services, performing duties which include reviewing and submitting claims to third party payors, performing account follow-up activities, updating information on account, etc. Positions at this level require a working knowledge in specialized functions and general knowledge of the revenue cycle, including hospital billing and collection practices. Incumbents are expected to independently handle and resolve routine, common occurrence questions and problems following established policies and procedures. This position may be cross-trained in other revenue cycle functions and provide back-up coverage. Note: New Hires must successfully pass a background check, a prohibited substance screening and a pre-employment physical. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: High School graduate. English speech, spelling, grammar and simple math skills equivalent to high school level required. College level courses in finance, business, or health insurance preferred. Experience: Three (3) to four (4) years of hospital billing and/or collections experience required. UB-04 experience required. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and other Books for billing information. Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and other books for billing information. Successfully complete PRMPT 1. Ability to understand and analyze different bill types and their purpose and or billing process as needed. Ability to perform relevant mathematical calculations. Must possess computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of MS office, Web/Vs, Emdeon and CS-link. Excellent verbal and written communication. Detail and problem solving aptitude. Typing 40-45 wpm (45 to 50 wpm preferred). Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks frequently and with short timelines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner. Professional and courteous demeanor. Ability to work and communicate well with others. Demonstrated customer service skills. Physical Demands: Walking, standing, sitting, bending and reaching throughout the day. Repetitive hand motions. Sufficient mobility to access equipment and other customers.
