Job Posting: Cedars Sinai's Biomedical Sciences is looking for a Research Associate II to join Dr. Katsumata's Rodent Genetics Core. Essential Job Duties: Provides miscellaneous research support (ad hoc data analysis, hypothesis development, programming, troubleshooting, etc.) Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, and assist in identifying and troubleshooting of unexpected results. Orders laboratory supplies and supports laboratory operations in collaboration with vendor representatives. Monitors and ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures. Monitors lab equipment and related records and may coordinate use of lab equipment. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment, as required by the area of research. Assists in preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings. Budget management and billing. Care, breeding and management of laboratory animals and performing various animal related procedures and surgeries. PCR based mouse genotyping. Preparation of laboratory reagents. Plasmid subcloning, amplification and purification. Electroporation and selection of embryonic stem cells. Ability to come in on weekends (1~2 times for 30 minutes a month) and early morning (2~3 times a month) for animal care and procedures as needed. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in biological science. Experience: At least two years of experience in area of research specialization. Some experience with molecular and cellular biological techniques strongly preferred. Experience working with mice or willingness to be so trained is essential. Understanding of general research objectives. Applicant must be highly motivated and able to work independently. Must have superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills with peers, physicians and other customers in the medical center. Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint. Thorough technical and theoretical understanding of PI's research objectives. Good grasp of complex or unusual technical procedures and protocols. Knowledge of administration policies and procedures and budgetary requirements and policies. Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) Physical abilities necessary to perform job.
