Job Posting: The Clinical Nurse II, Registered Nurse in Oncology, delivers direct care to assigned adult hematology/oncology patients in an ambulatory setting. Nursing care is delivered using standards of care by following approved policies and procedures. 1. Assesses appropriately patient care needs and learning needs in adult hematology/oncology populations. Demonstrates ability to apply new knowledge in routine and less complex patient situations. 2. Demonstrates ability to document pertinent nursing assessment including physical and psycho-social findings on all assigned patients 3. Prioritizes identified patient care problems within assigned patients and assumes responsibility for problem resolution, utilizing all resources as appropriate 4. Plans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members 5. Initiates and follows through with appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare team members 6. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development throughout the lifespan to competently provide care to adult patients 7. Utilizes effective time management to complete all assignments in a timely manner to ensure safety of patients 8. Demonstrates competency in use of technical skills as required (i.e., IV therapy equipment utilization, universal precautions, body mechanics) 9. Current ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy certificate, preferred. Must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
A minimum of at least 2 years' experience in outpatient oncology setting, administering chemotherapy and biotherapy
Competency in intravenous skills and vascular access device management CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: RN licensure, BLS certified, ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certificate Physical Requirements (physical abilities essential to perform the job): Ability to work extended schedule within the operational hours of Tower Hematology Oncology Medical Group. Ability to lift materials and boxes under 20 pounds. Frequent need for adequate vocal pitch and volume. Frequent need or auditory perception and acuity. Equipment: Venous Access Devices, Infusion Pumps, Medical Accessories (i.e. blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, etc.), Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine. Work Environment (work environments, hazards and exposures the employee may encounter on the job): Work in a generally clean environment, but may be exposed to chemotherapy, chemotherapy-contaminated waste, and infectious materials including blood, body fluids and possible communicable diseases. Work environment requires the use of protective barriers, such as gown, gloves, masks and goggles/protective face shield to ensure protection.
