| The Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness (www.isc.hbs.edu ) is seeking a full-time Health Care Program Manager to oversee the administration of health care programs related to Professor Michael Porter's health care research. This work includes managing the delivery of Professor Porter's Value-Based Health Care Delivery Intensive Seminar and the Strategy for Health Care Delivery Executive Education leadership workshop, both currently taught in January but with potential to introduce additional offerings throughout the year. Professor Porter also co-teaches the Value Measurement for Health Care Delivery Executive Education leadership workshop, which currently runs twice a year, in the spring and fall. Moreover, Professor Porter partners with the leaders in Graduate Medical Education at Partners Health Care to host a three day course for Residents and Fellows within the Partners system. This course is offered annually in January. As a recognized leader in health care, Professor Porter routinely presents on his research around the world, and the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the logistics of these efforts. |
Reporting to Professor Michael Porter and the Institute's Administrative Director, the Program Manager will manage the portfolio of offerings connected to Professor Porter's health care research and teaching. The Program Manager has administrative oversight for all health care related courses, presentations, meetings, course development, and research.
The Program Manager will work closely with Professor Porter, the health care Research Associates and the Senior Researcher on research and other projects related to Professor Porter's health care agenda. This content component of the role can be adapted to the Program Manager's background and bandwidth. In collaboration with the research associates, the Program Manager will assist in the preparation of all presentations and meetings that fall under the health care purview. As part of the Institute team, the Program Manager may assist with other projects related to Professor Porter's research and teaching, as needed.
With responsibility for the successful delivery of Professor Porter's health care courses, and working across departments and networks, the Program Manager identifies, recruits, and tracks candidates; manages the creation and production of course-related marketing and legal materials; edits case studies, articles, and other program content; communicates with course participants regarding course logistics, content, and assignments; prepares and sets up the course; manages the online course platform; prepares and distributes course materials; and coordinates course logistics. The Program Manager regularly communicates with affiliated faculty regarding logistical and financial matters. Monitors the course budget and prepares financial reports, interacting with the Financial Office as appropriate. Liaises with HBS Publishing, Executive Education, MBA Course Services, HBS IT and other Harvard offices on matters pertaining to the course and other related activities.
In addition, The Program Manager is part of the Institute's administrative team, and will assist with other duties in support of the Administrative Director and Professor Porter.
This is a 2 year term position, with the possibility to extend.
