An earned Ph.D. in mining engineering or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment and must support professional activities that lead to Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within 5 years of appointment. Candidates for the Associate rank must have an outstanding record of teaching, research and service.
The Statler College has seven academic departments, over 4,700 students, and 135 faculty members, with about $25M in annual external research expenditures and is nationally recognized for high quality teaching, research, faculty, and students. The Department of Mining Engineering will provide start-up support for the successful candidate and maintains close ties with and receives strong support from the mining industry. The Department offers degrees at the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels.
WVU is the State's comprehensive Land Grant University with an enrollment of about 29,000 students and a R1 Carnegie Classification. Morgantown and vicinity has a diverse population of about 62,000 residents and is ranked highly among the most livable small cities in the country.
