Purpose of Position:
This position is an Associate Professor position in the Division of Child Neurology to provide general child neurology expertise together with clinical expertise in neuromuscular diseases/EMG. The faculty member must have fellowship training in Neuromuscular Medicine or EMG, clinical expertise and research interests in neuromuscular diseases. The faculty member will also support the department with teaching responsibilities in neuromuscular diseases and general child neurology.
1.Clinical – Primary clinical responsibilities include general inpatient and outpatient neurology with an emphasis on neuromuscular diseases/EMG.
2.Teaching – To teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in neuromuscular diseases. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.
3.Research – Faculty member must establish a research program with a record of publications in refereed journals and external funding. They will be expected to develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance the neuromuscular research programs in Child Neurology.
4.Service – Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
5.Other: -Submit billing and document care as required by the organization. Abide by all medical staff requirements. Participate in quality initiatives.
BC/BE in Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology.
Fellowship training in Neuromuscular Medicine or EMG.
Research interest and record of publication in area of research.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
