Posting Summary: The Department of Parking and Transportation at the University of Virginia is searching for a reliable fiscal technician to serve as our Accounting Assistant.
The Accounting Assistant works within the Department's internal Business Office and performs a variety of support duties related to multiple financial disciplines within the Department of Parking and Transportation's Business Office. Duties include daily reconciliation of cash received, daily and monthly reporting, entry of deposits, processing of change funds, internal financial audit, monthly accounts receivable billing, creation of financial reports, and general reconciliation. The Accounting Assistant processes routine financial documents and fund transactions, reconciles financial records, analyzes routine financial data, and assists in the development, coordination, and maintenance of unit budgets, as appropriate. The Billing Specialist / Accounting Assistant is responsible for detailed data entry and reporting, and performs routine duties under close supervision and seeks guidance from supervisors or other experienced team members, as needed.
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree or Equivalent Experience Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Degree or four years of directly applicable experience required.
Preferred Minimum Level of Education: *Degree or Equivalent Experience Preferred
Preferred Specific Degree/Training: Degree or 5+ years of directly relevant experience is preferred.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: At least two years of experience in a professional office setting and at least two years experience with responsibilities related to fiscal technician / accounting.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required License or Certification: Valid driver's license.
Preferred License or Certification: Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes and Passengers endorsements. A clean driving record (as evidenced by a positive point balance on license) is strongly preferred.
