Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for The Bildner Center. The Program Coordinator organizes, administers, and coordinates multiple facets of special programs and in particular the Bildner Center's largest and most visible program: the annual Rutgers Jewish Film Festival that is attended by over 6,000 members of the community. This event requires year round planning. The film festival features over twenty film screenings in a two-week period and brings scholars, film directors and other experts in the field to each screening for discussion with the audience. The Program Coordinator oversees implementation of the film festival and is involved with planning and managing logistics, financials, ticket sales, and hiring part-time staff. This position is an essential member of the staff team and as such is called upon to fulfill other duties when needed including assisting with other Bildner Center initiatives, building coverage, and student inquiries. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Organizes, administers, and coordinates multiple facets of the Rutgers Jewish Film Festival and special programs.
Assists with creating marketing plan for film festival and other events and compiles information for promotional materials.
Attends and manages the film programs which are held in multiple campus and off campus locations and evaluates program effectiveness, and identifies and recruits additional program resources for the film festival and special events. Oversees student internship for Jewish Film Festival.
Provides support to the Director and Associate Director for special projects and public programs undertaken by the Bildner Center. Special projects include but are not limited to educational workshops and trips for school teachers (Holocaust education and Israel education), academic conferences, and donor related events.
Assists with recruiting participants and registration; communicates with participants to inform them of programs and logistics; program evaluation; and maintains files of correspondence and educational materials used throughout these programs.
Provides support to the Center Director, Associate Director, and Director of Development for donor relations including preparing correspondence to donors and acknowledgements for gifts, producing and distributing giving reports, and researching prospect information.
Makes sure work is consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Bildner Center.
Makes regular contact with the community at large and is integral to the presentation of the unique role of Jewish studies at Rutgers and the resources of the Bildner Center.
Plays an essential role as a liaison with various high level constituencies served (major donors, alumni, community leaders and religious leaders), and in such role requires knowledge and sensitivity to the Jewish community.
Serves as liaison with various public and private institutions and agencies to determine special program requirements, modifications, or innovations.
Carries out routine and semi-routine work within work parameters for the unit and under general supervision.
Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general program coordination practices and the application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of the organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have successful track record in event planning.
Knowledge and understanding of the Jewish community, its organizational structure and lay leadership.
Proficient with Microsoft suite including Excel, Word and Access.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Ability to work with wide range of people/customer service.
Creative problem solver.
Comfortable with new developments in technology.

Special Conditions: Position is 25 hours per week December 1 – July 31.
From August 1 to about November 20 the hours increase to 35 hours per week.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
This position will be part time.
