Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Database Management or related field.
Experience: Five (5) years' experience designing, implementing and supporting systems in a large scale analytics or data engineering environment containing many disparate application systems and multiple data sources.
Preferred Education: Master's degree programming, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Database Management, or a related discipline preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess a thorough knowledge of position/industry requirements and able to perform position in compliance with all requirements/regulations/laws. Advanced ability in computer programming for statistical processes. Ability to establish and execute data security standards, procedures and disaster recovery plans. Knowledge of data analysis, end user requirements analysis, and business requirements analysis to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and to incorporate these needs into technical solutions. Deep knowledge in data mining, machine learning or natural language processing. Expert knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases. Strong knowledge in programming or scripting languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, Ruby). Experience with agile or other rapid application development methods. Experience with object-oriented design, coding and testing patterns as well as experience in engineering software platforms and large-scale data infrastructures. Knowledge to perform complex data query and retrieval leveraging API's, relational and non-relational data sources.
- Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences. Ability to lead complex database projects. Assume personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions; and learns how to effectively use technology. Maintain productivity and uses knowledge strategies to increase knowledge base. Able to make independent decisions that are a matter of significance for the unit. Demonstrated computer and analytic skills to determine methodology alternatives.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Write and present information in a clear and concise way. Interpret and understand written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding. Skill in interacting and presenting to various audiences.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Demonstrate pleasant and positive interactions with others to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers. Reaches compromise and consensus to influence and negotiate. Remains calm and is able to manage conflict, and works well with a diverse workforce.
