Education: Bachelor's degree in field and/or related field, such as marketing or communications. (Master's degree is preferred)
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, government affairs, or community relations, preferably in a higher education setting. Documented successful project management from design to completion.
Supervisory: Two (2) years of work coordination, training, and daily oversight of volunteers, staff, or students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of design and creative strategy development for design and marketing projects and events including publication and information materials that establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a SOM mission and strategic vision. Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed; and maintain awareness with design and creative strategy trends and influences. Assumes personal responsibility for all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions. Highly proficient skills in PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel. Maintains productivity and uses Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions. Able to make independent decisions that are a matter of significance for the School. Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts to support partnerships with peers and SOM leaders. Writes and presents information in a clear and concise way. Interprets and understands written information and is able to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Demonstrate pleasant and positive interactions with diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality with other to meet customer expectations, and provide follow up with customers. Reaches compromise and consensus to influence and negotiate. Remains calm and is able to manage conflict, and works well with a diverse workforce. Consultive and approachable style allows others to be open in sharing thoughts and ideas.
