The Assistant Director of Stewardship will be a key team member in the Donor Relations Department, working collaboratively with colleagues within the Advancement division and throughout the university to actively support the process by which scholarships are awarded to students, and to collect information that will be incorporated into stewardship reports. The AD will partner with Student Financial Services to ensure scholarships are awarded appropriately, and maintains databases and tracking systems. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director for Donor Relations, he/she oversees the outreach process for obtaining and proofreading student thank you letters and produces the stewardship reports and materials sent to scholarship donors. Additionally, he/she collaborates with other team members and with the Senior Associate Director for Donor Relations on non-scholarship stewardship reports, obtaining narrative information that conveys the impact of donors' gifts to support faculty, programs, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
Pro-active, creative, collaborative, and well-organized, the Assistant Director of Stewardship will be able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while also meeting project completion deadlines. The Assistant Director will exhibit grace under pressure when faced with challenges and will possess the ability to interact with students, donors, and senior administrators with professionalism and good humor.
The Assistant Director of Stewardship will have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in, or familiarity with, higher education and/or fundraising or related fields. He/she will have familiarity with stewardship concepts and its best practices. Bachelors degree required. He/She will have excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook are required; knowledge of Salesforce, Access, and/or SharePoint is very helpful), and a willingness to learn new systems. The Assistant Director for Stewardship will be an excellent communicator, able to write, edit, proofread, and produce grammatically correct, high quality correspondence to donors on behalf of the university.
