The Marketing Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a Director, Consumer & Market Insights to join its growing team.
Our goal in Marketing is to effectively communicate what makes MSK unique, so that prospective patients will make MSK the very first place they turn to for cancer care. The Director, Consumer & Market Insights, will be a key a member of the broader Marketing team. In addition to Insights, other groups within Marketing include Advertising (creative strategy and development), Media (strategy and planning) and Branding.
The health care industry, particularly cancer care, has become very competitive. As a result, Marketing at MSK is not what you might expect at a typical "not-for-profit" organization. It is always challenging and stimulating as we constantly look to sharpen our insights to help optimize how we communicate with consumers. We’re very passionate about what we do.
As the Director, Consumer & Market Insights, you will:
Create a competitive advantage for Memorial Sloan Kettering by delivering fact-based insights that inform institutional strategies targeting consumers and referring physicians.
Lead research plan development, evaluate and select optimal research partners, and manage the day to day execution of research studies and analyses; demonstrate leadership in managing resources and financial stewardship.
Represent the “Voice of the Customer” to facilitate speed and accuracy of strategic and tactical decision-making to drive market growth in a highly competitive marketplace.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department and partner agencies, to evaluate and monitor the MSK brand.
Identify key drivers of brand strength and patient demand.
Guide optimization of marketing and advertising strategies through segmentation and positioning research; lead creative and copy testing to optimize creative executions.
Work with senior management to identify additional insights needs and priorities across the organization based on business objectives and goals.
Serve as a key member of the Marketing leadership team, reporting to the Vice President - Marketing, Insights & Branding.

A Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Business, Marketing, Marketing Research, Psychology, English, Sociology, Anthropology, or related field.
15+ years of strategic Market Research experience; 5+ years leading the research function or team; strong Marketing,
Strategic consultant background with insights management experience.
Consumer-focused insight experience is required; some additional B2B experience preferred
Healthcare industry or not-for-profit experience not required, but a plus
Strategic thought leadership to orchestrate the insights activities, meeting current needs and anticipating the future insight needs.
The ability to lead and demonstrate credibility as a subject matter expert in customer insights.
The ability to integrate/synthesize various data points/information to tell the story to drive actions.
Practical business mindset and keen business acumen.
The ability to build and leverage relationships, and interpersonal skills for influencing and collaboration.
Passion and energy to generate results through others; inspire others to achieve.
Strong commitment to client service and team members.
