The Pathology Department is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to demonstrate proficiency in the technical work for the assigned area(s) of the Molecular Diagnostics Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Laboratory.
This individual will perform and maintain competency in the complex Next Generation Sequencing assay/tasks according to established operational procedures under supervision;
Analyze and interpret test results;
Work with laboratory supervisor, senior staff and the laboratory technical director to review/troubleshoot procedures and work assignments; Maintain complete documentation for assay tracking and results for review/reporting;
Maintain clean and neat laboratory environment;
Assist supervisor to keep up with JCAHO and NYS DOH requirements.
Responsible to maintain QC related documents.
Bachelor's degree (Medical Technology, Science, Biology) required; Master's preferred.
NY State Clinical Labs Technologist license required
Previous NGS experience strongly preferred.
Must be proficient in using, and able to maintain highly complex laboratory equipment like automated library preparation instruments, various Next Generation Sequencing equipment and quality control instrumentation.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
