The Department of Laboratory Medicine provides all of the testing of blood, urine, and other fluids that Memorial Sloan Kettering adult and pediatric patients require for diagnosing, staging, and monitoring the effects of therapy.
Our clinical services include:
- Cell Therapy
- Clinical Chemistry
- Clinical Hematology and Immunology
- Clinical Microbiology
- Hematopathology (jointly with the Department of Pathology)
- Transfusion Medicine (includes the Blood Bank, Blood Donor Program, and Apheresis).
Our experts also play a vital role in clinical research through contributions we make to the development of new laboratory tests and diagnostic platforms.
Memorial Sloan Kettering is building a state-of-the-art laboratory medicine facility on East 64th Street between First and Second Avenues. The new Laboratory Medicine Building will maximize operational efficiency, allowing the Laboratory Medicine team to provide test results faster and reduce the amount of blood needed from a patient to generate those results.

The Laboratory Medicine Department is seeking a Part Time Blood Bank Technician.
Perform and maintains competency in the technical and related work of the Blood Bank Laboratory
Performs pre-transfusion testing on patient/donor blood specimens and prepares blood components for transfusion per physician requests.
Perform special studies with direction from senior technologists and/or supervisory staff.
Hours: 15 hours per week. Will work an alternating Friday/Saturday and Sunday/Monday schedule. Varying 8 hour day shift between the hours of 6:30 am - 6:30 pm
