To aggregate data from multiple sources in an efficient data warehouse and deliver reports, dashboards, and analytics for Institutional Advancement. Provide support to the Director of Advancement Services in fulfilling the technical needs of the department, including application support, server maintenance, and provisioning of personal hardware systems. Reports to the Manager, Advancement Business Intelligence.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Plan, design, and implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. Gather and analyze requirements utilizing technical skills and functional expertise. Ensure deployed solutions meet performance and development standards, and are scalable to meet future demands.
Create and deploy reports, dashboards, and cubes. Provide support for user facing analytical tools such as SSRS, Tableau, and SSAS.
Debug, monitor and troubleshoot BI solutions. Identify root causes of problems, research new solutions, and implement changes in the ETL, data warehouse, and deliverables.
Develop policies and implement controls with the Advancement Data Quality Assurance Analyst to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Design and implement complex SQL/MDX that supports the necessary ETL and Data Warehouse processes.
Design, implement, and maintain relational (ROLAP) and multi-dimensional database (MOLAP) models that represent Institutional Advancement's business rules and data.
Configure, deploy and maintain database servers, software, and the appropriate level of access and security.
Champion the use of Business Intelligence tools within the Division. Provide education for functional staff on use, best practices, and self service solutions.
Stay current with new BI tools and trends. Investigate their potential use as time permits.
Design, build, implement and maintain standalone web applications that support workflows within Institutional Advancement.
Manage the selection, purchase, and distribution of personal hardware systems for Institutional Advancement staff, staying within the allocated budget.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field of study; two to three years prior work experience providing support in multiple areas of Development and Business Intelligence; database maintenance and design, ETL development, report writing, analytics, server maintenance, and/or web applications development.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Microsoft suite of BI and reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Analytical Services, Microsoft SQL Server DBMS and Windows Server management. Some experience with Higher Education Institutional Advancement.
Knowledge of: Basic understanding of one or more of the following:*
o Warehouse design and reporting methodologies
o MVC development methodology
o Basic database administration tasks including creation, backups, performance management, and security
o Microsoft SQL Server Administration
o Server hardware maintenance
Skill In: Analyzing and organizing information and data*
