The Financial Aid Advisor provides financial aid information to students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public through in-person, phone, and email counseling. This position is responsible for program management in assigned areas of responsibilities such as Reasonable Academic Progress, Professional Judgments, and Education Abroad, etc. The advisor assists in resolving student eligibility issues, performing verification, determining eligibility for financial aid, processing awards, adjusting aid and resolving over awards.
This position requires a customer-focused person who works cooperatively, adapts easily and quickly, accepts responsibility, ensures a high level of accuracy with attention to detail, and thrives in a high-volume environment.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
- Experience providing administrative and/or customer service in a high volume environment such as an academic or professional office environment.
- Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with standard office software, such as Microsoft Office.
- Good communication skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in making difficult decisions.
- Experience working in a financial aid office.
