The Accounts Payable Agent independently ensures accurate and timely preparation of purchasing documents, travel requests and reimbursements, GE Corporate Card reconciliations, and payment of invoices for The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center. Compile facts and figures as well as verify invoices for accuracy. Reconcile outstanding checks with AP aging report, monthly. Handle all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements. Develops and updates operating procedures for the Accounting Department at IVTSCC ensuring University, State and Benchmark audit requirements are met. Assists Hotel Controller with special projects.
Previous accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting practices, procedures and payroll; proficiency in basic word processing and spreadsheet packages; experience providing administrative support; ability to communicate effectively with hotel guests, hotel employees, hotel department heads, vendors, and all levels of the University community; ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision and be a team player.
Degree in accounting, business, or a related field and/or related accounting courses; knowledge of University accounting policies and procedures, or extensive accounts payable experience; experience developing operating policies and procedures; familiarity with a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Office products, University Banner Finance, University Banner HR system, TimeClock payroll system and University payroll experience.
