The GI Technician assists RN with all aspects of caring for the patient having a gastrointestinal examination. The scope of the responsibilities include: data collection related to patient care, communicating patient responses of the care provided to the RN, physical care of the patient, assisting with the procedure including patient positioning, handing physician appropriate equipment, manipulating equipment, collection of specimens, assisting with set up and cleanup of the procedure room, cleaning and disinfection of the endoscopes and accessories according to SGNA and infection control guidelines. They are responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of the anesthesia cart and other equipment. Perform first level maintenance on anesthesia equipment, and is able to recognize and report potential problems. The GI Technician also provides relief to the scheduling secretaries and will answer phones, schedule patients in the computer, communicate with staff, and make patient charts. The GI technician will assume personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1-3 years' experience as CNA
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
