The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time board certified/board eligible M.D./Ph.D., at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Physician Scientist candidate must be highly motivated in pursuing an academic career in Radiation Oncology as a translational researcher and will be provided the time, resources, and mentorship to be successful.
The Department has expanded rapidly in the last few years to include, in addition to the main campus, seven community satellite facilities across the greater Kansas City metropolitan region. Increasingly active in clinical research, the Department is a voting member of the NRG Oncology Group and supports investigator-initiated trials. The Department features a fully-accredited four-year Radiation Oncology residency training program (ACGME certified), and a two-year residency Medical Physics training program (CAMPEP certified).
Currently, the Department has 3 Ph.D. radiobiologists in addition to a growing clinical research team. Approximately 3,158 square feet of laboratory space is available and supports ongoing research in biomarker development, radiosensitizers, stem cell biology, and immunotherapy. The Department houses a biospecimen repository, small animal irradiator, and has access to core resources as an integral part of the NCI-designated, University of Kansas Cancer Center.
