Substance and Alcohol Intervention Services for the Deaf (SAISD) provides culturally sensitive, linguistically accessible information on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, prevention, intervention and case management services to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community at RIT and throughout Rochester and the Monroe County area. SAISD also advocates for and promotes development of a full range of accessible treatment programs for alcohol and other drugs for deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers through the provision of cross-disability short-term technical assistance, consultation and training for professionals. Wherever possible, SAISD promotes its successful model to other communities across the state.
The director has the responsibilities for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of the SAISD Program. The director will serve as Principal Investigator for the SAISD grant from NYS-OASAS. Also, the director is responsible for acquisition and management of all SAISD funding; staff hiring, development and supervision; statistical reporting and associated mandatory deliverables to RIT/NTID, Monroe County OMH, CCSI and NYS-OASAS.
Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related Human Services discipline
OASAS credential (CPP, CASAC) or other license acceptable to NYS-OASAS (p. 30 Prevention Regulations)
5 years in the management of a private not for profit agency
2 years in Alcohol, Tobacco or Other Drug (ATOD) prevention or treatment
Demonstrated ability to supervise professional staff
History of successful grant writing on the state, federal or private levels
Ability to provide counseling or prevention services to back up professional staff
Knowledge of addiction
Proficient in basic computer skills
