The College: The B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is the largest of RIT’s nine colleges, and has an enrollment of over 3,000 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students. The college, with over 100 faculty members, is housed in a modern facility equipped with numerous teaching and research laboratories. The college is home to the departments of Computer Science, Computing Security, Information Sciences and Technologies, Software Engineering, the School of Interactive Games and Media and a college-wide Ph.D. program, providing many opportunities for cooperation and research collaboration within and beyond the college.
The Department: The Information Sciences & Technologies Department (IST) is one of six administrative units within the College of Computing and Information Sciences and oversees academic and curricula development for both undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in three undergraduate BS programs, four graduate MS programs, and two advanced certificate programs. The IST department provides leadership, administrative, financial, and logistical support to nearly 700 undergraduate and graduate students with 30 faculty and 6 staff in Rochester, and also provides support of the department’s degrees at RIT’s global campuses in Croatia and UAE. The department is also home to several labs and research centers including the Center for Accessibility and Inclusion Research, and the Future Everyday Technology research lab.
Under general supervision of the IST Office Manager, assists in the coordination, communication, and implementation of outreach activities, department events, and the IST student experience. Responsible for coordinating with department faculty, staff, students, and other institutional resources regarding such issues, and carrying out solutions aimed at increasing student retention and satisfaction. In particular, this position is responsible for:
Department Communications (including print materials, website, and social media)
3-5 years’ experience with communications for disseminating information and building a brand
3-5 years’ experience with event coordination
Proven knowledge of marketing principles and social media strategy
Deep understanding of a wide array of social media channels
Demonstrated innovator with an interest in emerging technology
Interest in working in a team-based, collaborative environment
Event planning and outreach opportunities
Ability to network
Excellent interactive communication skills
Strong ability to develop rapport with diverse set of stakeholders
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Intermediate to advanced computer skills
Strong presentation skills
Excellent time management skills
Basic web manipulation (HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Experience with event coordination is preferred
5-10 years experience in higher education environment preferred
Knowledge of RIT processes, programs, and resources preferred
