Pre-K/Kindergarten Teacher-Primary Circle:
Westtown School is seeking a teacher for a Pre-K/Kindergarten combined classroom, called Primary Circle. The Primary Circle program holds play and discovery at the center of young children's lives and sees academic learning expanding from that core. A deep respect and love for young children's learning is a must along with a developmental understanding of the joys and challenges of being four, five and six years old. The tenets of Friends Education influence how teachers approach social-emotional learning and conflict resolution, and therefore, must be a part of how a teacher helps children learn the skills of friendship. Extensive collaboration with the science and art faculty is a vital component of the Primary Circle program and should be evidenced in a candidate's previous experiences. The teacher must enjoy partnerships and communication with families and be able to work collaboratively with co-teachers and a team of assistants. Candidates should have a minimum three to five years as a lead teacher and experience with education that is inspired by Montessori and/or Reggio Emilia Fundamental to their teaching practice, the teacher will understand how diversity and inclusion enrich children's learning and lives.
