Al Shaqab Equine Veterinary Medical Center is seeking applicants for a full-time position as Equine Medical Imaging Technician
The Equine Medical Imaging Technician will be responsible to provide medical imaging services by performing specialized medical examinations including radiography, CT scans, MRI scans, and nuclear scintigraphy of horses as requested by veterinarians. The successful candidate will be in charge to manage the use of the medical imaging equipment, maintain records of medical imaging procedures and clean/maintain all instruments and equipment used so that everything is in good working order and available for use as needed. Task will include:
Carry out specialized medical examinations including radiography, CT scans, MRI scans, and nuclear scintigraphy of horses as requested by veterinarians
Respond to emergency calls and meet the immediate veterinary medical imaging diagnostic needs of horses
Prepare and position horses for imaging procedures to ensure good imaging outcomes
Analyze images for preliminary findings and repeat scans for any substandard results
Maintain records of medical imaging procedures performed for ready reference by veterinarians
Clean and maintain all instruments and equipment used so that everything is in good working order and available for use as needed; limit access as appropriate to guard against misuse or abuse by unauthorized persons
Monitor consumable supplies and submit replenishment orders on a timely basis to ensure availability
Participate in professional development cross-training for other veterinary services in order to be able to lend competent assistance when needed
Provide guidance to visiting veterinarians, visiting veterinary students and interns, as assigned
Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and experience:
The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific field with specialized training in Veterinary Medical Imaging, MRI certification and experience in equine radiography (x-rays), computerized tomography (CT / CAT scans), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI scans), Positron Emission Tomography (PET scans), Bone scintigraphy; in addition to a minimum of 2-5 years of Veterinary Medical Imaging work experience. Excellent communications and computer skills are required.

Al Shaqab – Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) is a state of the art equine referral center located in Doha, Qatar open for all horses in the state of Qatar and the Gulf region. The hospital is equipped with a 3T MRI, CT-scan, nuclear scintigraphy and the latest technology in radiology. The hospital has 2 operating theaters, a well-equipped farrier shop, and lameness examination areas on three surfaces. Other specialized medical services at AS-EVMC include internal medicine/ neonatal ICU, theriogenology, and anesthesiology/ pain management. In addition, AS-EVMC consists of a state of the art veterinary diagnostic laboratory, including necropsy services. The center offers excellent research opportunities for clinicians that are interested in developing an independent or collaborative research program. Designated research laboratory space, equipped for cell culture, molecular biology, chemistry and endocrinology supervised by a full-time laboratory researcher will be available to assist and coordinate laboratory research activities.
