Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Engagement and Campus Life (Engagement) the Assistant Director for Organizational Leadership and Development is responsible for the development and implementation of purposeful and learning-centered programs and services that guide the various types of student organizations at Virginia Tech. The Assistant Director will work with student organizations to foster an inclusive, supportive, and learning-centered environment, and engage student organization members in the Division's five Aspirations for Student Learning. The Assistant Director will utilize best practices to develop a comprehensive approach to advising student clubs and organizations, while creating a network of support for their advisors. The Assistant Director will also outline policies and expectations to educate student leaders and organizations.
A collaborative and learning-centered professional with a Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field is required by the start of appointment.
Previous experience in student affairs or higher education.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion.
Above average communications skills are essential, as well as, a desire to work in a teamwork focused environment, which includes colleagues, and students. Evening and weekend work required.
Demonstrated experience in advising student organizations, program creation, working with university policy, and/or leadership development programs.
Previous experience working with student organizations and/or leadership development.
Proficiency with computer programs.
