This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (http://www.milwaukee.va.gov/). PHYSICIAN CARDIOLOGY (ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY)
An opportunity exists for up to a full-time Cardiologist with Advanced Imaging training at the Clement J Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI.
The Cardiology Section is closely affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin with responsibilities for fellowship, resident and medical student training. It is expected that the applicant is qualified to be faculty at the affiliated medical school and will participate in supervisory roles in fellowship and residency programs. This position will also have general cardiology responsibilities in the community practice of the Medical College of Wisconsin, with an ability to work in the pregnancy and heart disease program. Research experience and the ability to attract grant funding and industry research is highly desirable.
Responsibilities include the interpretation of transthoracic/transesophageal echocardiography, and intravascular ultrasound, with emphasis on advanced congenital imaging, structural imaging; support of structural heart disease interventions is highly desirable. Significant amount of time will also be spent on the inpatient coronary care unit, with administrative duties on the CCU. Additional duties may include seeing patients in outpatient specialty clinics, performing cardiology consultations in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, participating in other noninvasive cardiac procedures such as ECG, stress testing, Holter and event monitoring. Research responsibilities include developing an imaging research program with the expectation of publication in peer reviewed journals.
-Board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine and Echocardiography (Level 3)
-Candidate with current research and administrative experience
-Current VA experience.
- Additional experience with other advanced cardiac imaging (Level 2 or 3 cardiac computer tomography and/or nuclear cardiac imaging) with board certification is a plus.
-Credentials necessary to obtain affiliate medical school appointment.
