Investment Financing Group integrates advisory for liquidity management, monetization/financing strategies, and bespoke corporate & executive solutions. The group is also focused to drive PnL through optimization of the business' and the Asia bank's balance sheet.
Based in Hong Kong, IFG is seeking a lawyer highly motivated to move into the business. The incumbent will help the group drive product development initiatives, bespoke client & counterparty arrangements, interact with internal/external partners on transactions, and any regulatory/control requests or changes. The individual will need to adapt to the fast changing environment of the private banking industry, and be willing to develop new skills and knowledge.
Primary Responsibilities - Advisory and execution on business development initiatives - Review, draft and negotiate agreements and other applicable documentation (including term sheets, indemnities, marketing material disclaimer, transaction-specific documentation), in conjunction with external counsel where relevant - Work closely with legal & compliance staff to ensure accordance with best practices for compliance with laws and regulations - Take initiative to identify and analyze problems, provide advice and support to internal stakeholders, generate alternative solutions and make decisions with little or no direction/supervision - Opportunity to take on additional /wider responsibilities for initiatives to expand the Asia bank platform
- Demonstrable experience in banking and finance transactions, with demonstrable experience in client documentation - Experience in structured lending, securities-based loan, loan arrangement/participation a plus - Knowledge of the Hong Kong and Singapore banking regime is preferred - Familiarity with Asian securities-based lending regime is a plus - In-house counsel or desk lawyer experience preferred - Chinese read/write ability preferred
