The Market and Operational Risk Management Team, part of the Risk Management Department of the IIC,is responsible for the design, implementation, update, and ongoing execution of the Market Risk Management framework, the Operational Risk Management framework, and the Economic Capital framework, within the IIC.As it relates to Market Risk Management, the Team identifies, quantifies and monitors interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk, and the price risk of the liquid investments portfolio. As it relates to Operational Risk Management, the Team aims to establish and maintain an appropriate entity level internal control environment. The Team also provides support for strategic risk management issues, especially those derived from the Economic Capital framework.
Main Functions and Responsibilities:
- Participates in the design, implementation, update, and ongoing execution of the Market Risk Management framework, the Operational Risk Management frameworks, and the Economic Capital framework
- Co-responsible for data sourcing and data management to support the Economic Capital framework and other strategic initiatives.
Colaborates for theidentification, quantification and monitoring of interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk, and of the price risk of the liquid investments portfolio.
Develops and runs the necessary models and systems to perform the appropriate Market Risk Management.
Participates in the design, development and generation of Market Risk, Credit Risk and Economic Capital reporting.
Participates in the ongoing implementation of the new Operational Risk Management framework of the IIC.
Oversees support to business units on matters related to operational risk and internal controls over financial reporting, including leading sessions of Risk and Control Self-Assessment, validating Key Risk Indicators and assessing operational risk incidents as reported by the business units.
Anticipates potential and/or actual risks due to inadequate or failed internal processes, people or systems or external events/breakdowns and guides others in implementation of mitigation actions in a timely manner.
Collaborates in the review of IIC processes and procedures to identify gaps and control deviations.Establishes control frameworks and system of checks and balances, where needed, particularly in new or emerging areas or where IIC protocols do not exist.
Collaborates with business units to provide training to employees on operational risk assessment and mitigation, internal control policies and procedures.
Provides support for strategic risk management issues.
Education and Professional Requirements:
Candidates should possess previous experience or good knowledge of market risk management, operational risk management, and economic capital frameworks of the IIC or similar multilateral institution and have outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills as well as domain expertise in technical area (e.g., advanced/quantum mathematics, engineering, information systems, audit, accounting, etc.).
Education:An advanced degree degree in mathematics, engineering, finance, accounting, or other relevant field.CFA, FRM or PRM designation is preferable.
Experience:At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role at a peer institution, financial services provider, regulatory agency, and/or professional services firms.
Language Skills:Oral and written proficiency in English and proficiency in any of the other official languages Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese are required.
