The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained by a 772-bed teaching hospital to recruit a Medical Director, Palliative Medicine. Our client is a national and regional referral center for trauma, cancer care, neurocare, cardiac care, diabetes and endocrinology, women's and children's health and has one of the largest solid organ transplant programs in the country. All physicians on staff at the flagship hospital are faculty physicians of the School of Medicine. As an academic medical center, our client participates in cutting-edge research and clinical trials, which gives patients access to the newest treatments. There is strong support of expansion of the palliative medicine service from leaders of the Cancer Center, MICU, SICU, Shock Trauma and Chief Medical and Nursing Officers. The palliative medicine team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses, in addition to established relationships with social workers, case managers, pharmacists, mental health professionals and chaplains across the hospital.
The Medical Director will provide operational leadership for all palliative medicine services. Will create and drive a vision of a leading palliative medicine program that addresses the needs of a tertiary/quaternary academic center. In 2016, the palliative medicine program did close to 1200 inpatient hospital consults.

We are seeking a physician who is board certified in Hospice/Palliative Medicine with at least one year of administrative experience. Strong preference for prior management and leadership experience in developing and growing a palliative medicine program. Experience working in an academic hospital is required.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
