Support faculty, students, and staff in the use and care of classroom multimedia and digital video capture equipment ; regularly advance knowledge of emerging audio, video, and multimedia technologies; and coordinate multimedia technology for class demonstrations with the laboratory preparation staff. Although assignments will occur in classrooms and event locations throughout FAS, the majority of work will be performed in the Science Center.
A. Media and Technology Support Services 1. In a highly skilled manner, operate multimedia equipment including, but not limited to, data projectors, Crestron and Extron control systems, matrix and routing switchers, IP video-conferencing (including scaling of computer and video images), image capture and annotation over presentation technology, HD digital video cameras & audio acquisition recording, broadcast digital video switchers, web streaming software and hardware, and sound reinforcement; 2. Support the use of computers in classrooms, computer laptop pool, network accessibility issues, and distance learning; 3. Coordinate and consult with clients and colleagues in the planning of services for courses and special events; 4. Participate in training full-time, part-time, and student employees; 5. Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance of portable and installed equipment and systems; 6. Make recommendations for equipment purchases and facility utilization.
B. Video Capture 1. Participate in scheduling and monitoring the systems used to capture and encode course video recordings; 2. Serve as a liaison to other departments and attend meetings related to video capture and web streaming video solutions; 3. Collaborate with MTS colleagues and other departments to help identify courses requesting recording; 4. Share responsibility of initializing and testing the digital capture systems, digital cameras and confidence monitors; 5. Work with Prep Room MTS colleagues in the daily quality assurance reviews of all videos captured by the system to verify a successful recording; 6. Identify capture failures and replace lost recordings from backup system; 7. Oversee temp/LHT and student camera operators for quality work; 8. Perform comprehensive technical video production and post-production skills that include HD camera operation, calibration of video monitors, multi-camera set up and directing, specialized lighting, microphone use, and post-production tasks, (e.g. knowledge of various media file types, file resolutions and their application); 9. Work with colleagues to ensure proper functioning of equipment used in classrooms to support courses meeting and other events being captured for the web.

A minimum of two years of college; ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and swiftly transport equipment across campus; and at least three years' experience with multimedia support.
College background in media or a technology-related field preferred; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines; an employment record of reliability and strong attendance; ability to work with a range of clients and develop team solutions to service problems in a client-friendly and professional manner. Must obtain a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification within the first two years of employment.
