This position is responsible for providing operational leadership for the employee benefits function. This includes leading the implementation and administration of employee benefit plans. This position consistently identifies and leads benefit process and system improvements that positively impact employees and the companys financial position. This position leads and provides role clarity to Total Rewards benefits staff and acts as primary management liaison between the benefit plan administration department and facility human resources related to administration and communication of benefits. This position is also responsible for developing/leading training, communication and educational programs that promote the Total Rewards strategy as it pertains to benefits.
Directs personnel actions including recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selection of new staff, salary determinations, training, and personnel evaluations. Effectively manages resource planning, allocation and expenditures to meet materials, labor and expense budgeted parameters.
Directs team members or provides direct benefits support for human resources personnel and facility leadership. Ensures that team members are successful in communicating, educating, counseling, and coaching employees and facility management about the full complement of benefits. Assures team members provide consistent, clear communication messages and plan interpretations throughout the system and identifies information needs by designing effective training and education programs.
Provides team members with counsel and intervention on complex and/or unique and unusual issues (could relate to eligibility, plan interpretation, or claims payment, etc.). Coordinates the problem resolution process in these situations, by utilizing various resources to achieve an appropriate solution. Effectively communicates responses back to all affected parties to assure consistent understanding and communication of the resolution. Monitors these types of activities and identifies trends on recurring issues, utilizing process improve methodologies to improve these activities, where appropriate.
Partners with other Total Rewards resources on communication strategies to customers and stakeholders. Working closely with management, develops and promotes initiatives that inform, enlighten, and educate employees on the value of their benefits and how to access and utilize them appropriately. Ensures that content is consistent with mission and values and promotes the customer first service orientation. Utilizes media best suited to issues and audiences.
Bachelors degree in HR administration, business administration, related field or equivalent experience.
Seasoned, progressive experience in the application of benefits administration, HR and related systems as typically demonstrated through 7+ years directly related experience. Must have in-depth experience with benefit administration and regulation. Must possess proven experience leading and/or managing a team of professionals in a complex and fast-paced environment. Must have strong project management and change management skills to effectively manage and oversee large-scale total rewards projects/initiatives for the organization.
Must possess excellent communication and influence skills to effectively build and maintain relationships with key partners/stakeholders. Position requires proficiency in personal software applications, including word processing, generating spreadsheets, and creating graphics/presentations. Position also requires extensive experience working with HR information, payroll and benefit administration/enrollment systems.
