Temporary Compensation Specialist

Our client, University of San Francisco (USF) is looking to fill a temporary position as a Compensation Specialist for a 5 week assignment covering a leave within the Human Resources team at USF. The position provides compensation analysis and technical support in the area of job review and evaluation, leading to an appropriate salary range for each job description submitted.

Research/analyze market and job data to evaluate union and non-union University positions.
Conducts staff job description evaluation, review, and analysis for Union, Non-Union, Exempt, and Non-Exempt; includes maintaining a job analysis template for job description evaluation and job tracking. Recommends salary ranges using the Hay Point system for non-union positions.
Works with business managers and other department management, as needed, to help revise job descriptions so that they accurately reflect the scope, impact, responsibilities and requirements of the position. This may include research and inquiries of other AJCU schools, non-profits and private sector school practices, organizations, and job structures.
Manages job descriptions in system of record, USF Jobs system; maintains updated Hay Point data in coordination with HRIS; maintains job description historical data library; maintains current knowledge of Hay Point system through training.
Creates, maintains related Excel spreadsheets accurately and timely.
*At least 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in Compensation, specifically in the review of job descriptions.
*Compensation knowledge to include compliance with state and federal laws that apply to compensation policies, processes, and procedures, especially around exempt vs. non-exempt classification.
*Experience using a point factor method for job evaluation specifically (Hay) preferred
*Advanced knowledge Banner and PeopleAdmin experience, a plus.
*Expert experience with excel including creating and modifying macros highly desirable.
*Quantitative analysis/mathematical aptitude; strong detail orientation.
*Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills.
*Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.
*Ability to work independently and as strong team member.
*Organization and time management skills.
*Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
