Coordinates peer mentoring and leadership programs and engagement initiatives for new underrepresented students (Students of Color, First-Generation, etc.) within New Student and Family Programs. Collaborate with colleagues in the creation of an inclusive campus climate to support success and persistence of underrepresented students.
40% - Essential - Peer Mentoring and Peer Leadership Development:
Coordinate recruitment and selection of approximately 90 peer mentors and peer leaders for underrepresented student retention programs that serve approximately 300 students. Supervise peer mentors and conduct performance evaluations based on measurable student-learning outcomes. Develop and facilitate training programs for peer mentors and leaders.
30% - Essential - Student Engagement:
Assists with planning and coordination of events and activities to support student engagement and persistence within the University inclusive excellence framework. Utilize mentoring relationship management software to track mentor engagement with mentees on a monthly basis
Plan and implement monthly small group engagement opportunities.
15% - Essential - Marketing and Outreach:
Promote programs at prospective and admitted students events (Discover Clemson, Experience Clemson, New Student Orientation). Utilize communication tools, including e-mail, social media, and text messaging to provide frequent updates to programs participants about important dates, upcoming events, and vital knowledge for their transition.
15% - Essential - Campus Partnerships:
Collaborates with other student support services and campus resource providers to support the success of the program and its visibility on campus. Partners include but are not limited to Gantt Multicultural Center, Center for Career and Professional Development, Academic Success Center, Campus Activities and Events, and the Office of Inclusion and Equity. Serve as a resource for the campus community on matters involving new underrepresented students in transition.
