This vacancy is for one Urologist (Physician) position at the Albany Stratton VAMC. This vacancy will be used to fill one part-time permanent appointment, 20 hours per week with on-call hours at least four nights per month. Functional Statement for the position is Albany VAMC Urologist #F9037. The incumbent for this position will also work part-time, 20 hours per week with the Urological Institute of Northeastern New York (Community Care Physicians) the principal urological faculty members at the Albany Medical Center.

This position is located in the Department of Surgery, Urology Service, Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, New York and supports the Network 2 Mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. This position is a part-time 20 hour per week position at the Albany VAMC. The incumbent will also work part-time, 20 hours per week with the Urological Institute of Northeastern New York (Community Care Physicians) the principal urological faculty members at the Albany Medical Center. This position is responsible providing specialty care for women's urologic issues relating to pelvic floor disorders, urodynamics, and continence as well as providing a broad range of urologic interventions to all Veterans. The incumbent will possess broad clinical experience in the specialty of urologic surgery. The candidate will also participate in a shared rotation of night and weekend on-call coverage. Duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Albany, New York. The incumbent follows established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Surgery, Department of VHA, and the profession. Each Urologist functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff.
The Urologist participates in and/or manages a broad range of urologic interventions including stress urinary incontinence, urinary urgency and frequency, urge incontinence, vaginal prolapse, recurrent urinary tract infections and painful bladder syndromes.
The Urologist participates in and/or manages all aspects of a general urology program to include clinical, administrative, and academic components.
The Urologist will perform surgery as indicated for genitourinary injuries and disease including major and minor procedures, stone management, urology consultation for inpatients and outpatients.
The Urologist is expected to exercise excellent judgement and maintain good diagnostic and therapeutic acumen.
The Urologist participates in a shared rotation of night and weekend On-Call coverage.
The Urologist is charged with delivering the best possible urologic care to our Veteran patients. This care must be delivered in accordance with hospital policy and meet community standards and pertains to outpatients as well as inpatients.
The Urologist is expected to maintain current knowledge and skills. She or he must be responsible for management of diagnostic, preventive, and/or therapeutic genitourinary injuries and diseases including surgery in both operating room and clinic settings throughout the full spectrum of Urology. She or he is expected to exercise excellent judgement and maintain good diagnostic and therapeutic acumen.
Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA Urologist. This pertains to colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, nursing and other ancillary staff.
The Urologist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.
