Chief of Party El Salvador Cacao Alliance – Establishing El Salvador as an Origin of Fine Flavored Cacao
Catholic Relief Services is recruiting a Chief of Party for its El Salvador Cacao Alliance program (ACES). This 5-year, $20 million program seeks to establish cacao agroforestry systems and re-start a traditional industry for income, employment and land restoration nationally. The ACES provides technical support to farmers and producer groups; collaborates with the private sector for processing, manufacturing, marketing and export; and works with the government towards establishing a national policy that favors cacao as a privileged value chain. In its first two years ACES established 2,600 hectares of cacao production with 3,000 farmers in 9 departments of the country. The Chief of Party leads a team that works on national sourcing of genetic material, establishment of 6,500 hectares of cacao agroforestry systems, smallholder organization and participation in the value chain, and engages in private and public sector collaboration to reach program objectives.
