This position will drive the design, development, implementation and delivery of an online course in tobacco control. An existing course, developed in 2007, has been successful but will be redeveloped and created by this role. With input from the project manager and other staff, the developer will work with subject matter experts to create the content, with consultants to create audio content, and within the IGTC office to finalize the course on the LMS.
The developer will have strong organizational and project management skills, and will be able to translate those skills into the day-to-day work of online education. Responsibilities range from concept development of course through final proofing, including setting schedules; creating and enforcing deadlines; maintaining quality, integrity, consistency, and efficiency; monitoring content development workflow; implementing procedures to ensure that course production operates efficiently; developing and implementing interactive elements; monitoring process to create translation-friendly content, etc.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the job:
Organize and maintain schedules to ensure steady workflow of course development Work with subject matter experts to create, edit and track scripts, photos, and other content for course Manage outsourced editing, translation, etc. Use best practices to create interactive and engaging online adult learning development, writing and editing Do first and second edits on manuscripts as needed Familiarity with accessibility standards of online training and copyright clearance Must have working knowledge of Adobe Captivate 9 Must have experience working within Learning Management Systems and HTML5 Comfort with Adobe Photoshop to create, edit or format some images and animations Ensure all copy and art elements fit designated PowerPoint page layouts and design Assist with proofreading text, check corrections, and review digital files of all course pages Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal coaching or supervision Ability to work on tight deadlines
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of experience in Education, HR, HRD or Instructional Design. Project management experience. Two plus (2+) years of experience with online learning. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and attention to detail skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience in strategic planning and strategic thinking. Proficiency in creating learning activities geared for diverse learners.
Public Health experience is preferred. Licensing or certification in teaching or online learning/learning management systems is preferred.
