The Business Services Office at UW-La Crosse invites you to join our professional team by applying for the position of Accountant. This position works under the supervision of the General Accounting Manager and is responsible for preparing financial analyses and reports for campus management, UW System, and the State of Wisconsin using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position will prepare financial journal entries, account reconciliations and maintain financial records in UW-La Crosse’s automated financial systems, and is also responsible for the implementation of audit recommendations. The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Accountant is expected to have an understanding of GAAP. This position will need to acquire knowledge of the UW System and UW-La Crosse policies and procedures and is responsible for maintaining compliance.

This is a full-time, annual (12 month) position that includes a State of Wisconsin benefits package. The anticipated start date is April 2017.
- Must have completed a four-year or advanced degree with a major in Accounting.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong computer skills, specifically proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Experience working with and analyzing automated accounting systems.
- Experience interpreting and analyzing financial data from accounting systems to create reports, complete reconciliations or prepare journal entries.
- Proficient in the development of computer queries to extract accurate data and reports.
- Experience in higher education.
- Knowledge of governmental or fund accounting.
