Provides support for users in the Nursing, Computer Science Program and other areas in Academic Affairs. This position is the Macintosh lead for the campus. They will solve user issues with T&C Departments so that users understand the reasoning for the solution based on enterprise practices and procedures.
Configures and deploys desktop computers and software to end users. Provides systems support for network resources and support for client server applications. Maintains library of documentation and inventory of assets. Tests and evaluates desktops and software. Review work order tickets assigned by the Manager of User Services. Assist the IT User Services Manager in developing, executing and assessing IT projects necessary for meeting campus needs. The campus lead for all Mac/iOS related issues. Familiarity with jamf/SCCM or similar products. Provide all technical support for the Computer Science Program and Nursing, rectifying problems in end-user hardware, mobile hardware/software and networking. Occasional after-hours support is required. Provide customer service and consultative support to ensure proper problem resolution, system/data access, and optimal system performance. Ensure that appropriate standards are met when deploying software and hardware to the user desktop. Assist in the development of efficient and innovative technical solutions to meet computing and communication needs on the campus. Identify, research, test, and implement new technologies to aid in computer, software, and printer management. Research and test desktop applications. Order, track and maintain the software purchases and licenses for the campus. Provides staff training on new IT products such as the phone system, MS Office suite and creates multimedia presentations, handouts and workshops to aid in training. Ensure the orderly and effective implementation of new technology throughout the campus. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Required: Completion of a B.A. or B.S. degree. Familiar with JAMF, Carbon Copy Cloner, Apple Disk Utility Apple Remote Desktop, or similar to use for OS and Application Deployment. Knowledge of Apple Configurator or similar product for Apple iPad configuration and Deployment. Working knowledge of OS and Application patch management systems like SCCM, Dell KACE or Altris. Working knowledge of Windows 7, Windows 10 and Macintosh OS X Operating Systems/iOS. Knowledge of desktop PC, laptop, printer, and Apple hardware. Ability to troubleshoot issues with Microsoft Outlook for both Windows and Mac. Working Knowledge of Desktop Virtualization Software like VMware or Virtual Box. Knowledge of Microsoft and Mac applications. Knowledge of CI network as it relates to the work being performed by CI faculty and staff. Must have the technological knowledge to understand and identify how a change to the campus infrastructure will adversely impact the users. Must be capable of presenting compelling and articulate evidence of user needs to the Infrastructure group so that adverse changes do not occur with considering the users. Ability to effectively motivate and train. Ability to evaluate effectiveness and applicability of various technical solutions. Ability to effectively prioritize pending projects. Ability to effectively complete tasks independently without direct supervision. Ability to train other technicians and end users. Ability to independently create system documentation. Knowledge of emerging technologies. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Effective customer relation skills. Ability to communicate with diverse groups using written, oral, and multimedia presentations. Must be able to lift and move 40 pounds; bend and stoop; crawl into small spaces; and sit for extended periods of time. 5 years of related experience preferred.
