DUTIES:Working under the guidance of the Director of System Operations, the DataCenter Computer Operator will play a key role in the operational support of the enterprise infrastructure. The Computer Operator will instruct staff in the operation of an installed computer, assist in the solution of operational and scheduling problems and assure adherence to operational schedules. Will operate the console and might handle a full shift. Duties will also include tape library work and direct access storage device management. On occasion, the DataCenter Computer Operator, may be required to work other shifts occasionally. On weekend shifts, Computer Operator may serve as Help Desk analyst to support users on site and remote locations.Other Duties/Responsibilities include the following:Operate and control servers and a variety of peripherals;Monitor and operate computer consoles;Monitor computer systems and DataCenter Operations;Perform production runs and tasks;Problem solve user issues and redirect problems to the responsible support areas(s);Supervise staff in absence of more senior operators/higher grade operators in planning and organizing work;Train workers, maintain work quality, motivate staff be able to & willing to work well with others;Provide Level I technical support for systems pc, printers, peripherals and applications;Deal promptly, effectively and in a courtesy manner to perform all tasks; andPrepare materials needed for production runs;Produce daily and weekly uptime and downtime reports for Sr. Management;Monitor critical problems tickets during the night shift.(DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION)QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED: Two (2) year college or equivalent IT experience. Experience in Microsoft windows, Office automation application. Effective communication and writing skills. Ability to lift moderately heavy items (i.e. boxes of paper, printers, pc, replenishing stock, etc) to meet installation needs. PREFERRED: Three (3) to six (6) months of working experience in DataCenter. Experience in Window server, Linux or IBM mainframe is preferred.Additional Info: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees. Hours of work: 11:00PM - 7:00AM.
