The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is seeking to hire a pediatric psychologist at the rank of Associate (non-track), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track). The individual selected will join the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to provide patient care, teaching, and research in the areas of health psychology and neuropsychology.
The Pediatric Psychology program in the Department of Pediatrics has an established history of scholarship and clinical service. Current services within Pediatric Psychology include applied behavior analysis and treatment, neuropsychological assessment, and brief therapy for health-related adjustment for a wide range of chronic health conditions. The current position focuses on expanding outpatient services and development of inpatient consultation within the Pediatric Specialty Clinics/Units (e.g., chronic pain, pain and palliative care, gastroenterology, endocrinology, allergy/pulmonary) to improve patient care and outcomes by: providing direct counseling or therapy services, neuropsychological assessment for cognitive disorders that impair functioning, and to work with and assist families to access local resources.

The U.S. News and World Report research ranking places the College 12th among public institutions for FY2016, and the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics ranked 22nd overall and 10th in NIH funding among all public pediatric departments nationwide in FY15.
Faculty in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics have a strong record of NIH-funded research in the areas of autism, neuroimaging, telehealth, applied behavior analysis, and parent-child attachment.
The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of UI Stead Family Children's Hospital. University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is one of the nation's top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa's only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2016-17, University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in eight pediatric specialties in the Best Children's Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children's care. A new 189-bed children's hospital is scheduled to open in December 2016.
Experience in providing pediatric psychological services, including consultation, counseling, and psychological testing, for children/adolescents with chronic and acute medical conditions, psychosomatic symptoms, and pain.
Experience with psychological and neuropsychological evaluation for learning and attention disorders in a pediatric population
Experience providing inpatient consultation in a hospital setting
Experience in patient-oriented research of children/adolescents with health conditions
