The Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa-Carver College of Medicine is seeking to hire a BC/BE physician investigator with a focus in rural health research, for an appointment as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Tenure Track. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independently-funded rural health research program in collaboration with investigators in the Center for Comprehensive Access and Delivery Research and Evaluation (CADRE) and the Veterans Rural Health Resource Center (VRHRC) at the Iowa City VA. Opportunities for collaboration also exist with an active rural health research community on campus, including the Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) and Center for Rural Prevention Research.
Individuals hired at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher are expected to have a track record of peer-reviewed publications and a clear plan for developing independent research funding in the area of rural health research. Possible areas of focus may include, but are not limited to: development and evaluation of interventions to improve access to high quality healthcare in rural settings, rural healthcare workforce, studies of health determinants and outcomes for rural populations, and rural health policy.

Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of advanced training in disciplines applicable to rural health research, such as clinical or basic epidemiology, health economics, outcomes research, demography, biostatistics, or related methodologies. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.
