Description The Hospital for Large Animals (HLA) provides high-quality medical/surgical care to inpatient, outpatient and critical/emergency large animal patients. This position supports the doctors and veterinary technicians within the Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery Service in ensuring timely communication with clients, scheduling appointments, and effective medical record keeping. The Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery Liaison (ESMSL) position supports the clinicians and veterinary technicians within the Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery Service (ESMSS) at the Hospital for Large Animals. This service manages cases suffering from orthopedic and respiratory conditions affecting performance. This position facilitates excellent patient care and client service by supporting the clinicians and technicians within the ESMSS in the Hospital for Large Animals. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scheduling appointments, facilitating and assisting the admission and discharge process of the patient, obtaining relevant information and history from clients, trainers and referring veterinarians, and maintaining complete medical records. In addition, the ESMSL will be responsible for orienting clients with regards to their expectations of the visit, timely delivery of discharge reports, laboratory study results, as well as providing access of all imaging studies performed to both referring veterinarians and clients.

Qualifications Basic Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years' experience handling of and working around large animals - especially horses. Knowledge of the equine industry including the different athletic disciplines. Knowledge of common diseases, medical conditions, types and groups of related drugs, medications and related treatment plans. Knowledge of basic large animal anatomy. 2 years of customer service experience. Exceptional communication skills both in person and by phone. Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn the electronic medical records system. Ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a diverse team of clinical and administrative professionals. Candidate should be highly-motivated, self-starter with a professional attitude. Valid U.S. Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study. Experience as a Veterinary Technician. Certifications in leadership development and/or client services areas. Special Work Schedule Requirements: This position is considered essential and is therefore required to report to work as scheduled during emergency closings.
