Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator and Director of Computer Operations for The Rutgers University Foundation. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Information Technology, the Senior Systems Administrator and Director of Computer Operations performs hands-on system administration and is responsible for the Implementation, maintenance and architecture of our computer operations. This person will also provide technical guidance and supervision of the desktop support and server operations teams.
The incumbent will provide strong leadership and direction to the RUF-IT team in the delivery of superior system support and provision of an accessible, sustainable, secure, compliant, reliable and cost-effective IT infrastructure in service to our staff, alumni, donors and the university community. Among the key duties of this position are the following:Highly experienced and knowledgeable in current and emerging technologies including: computer operations; system administration; security; system backups and recovery; and system hosting.
Provides hands-on support for all physical and virtual servers, as well as backup systems, SAN storage and computer operations.
Executes the utmost in reliability, accessibility; security, performance; and compliance in the system architecture and networking
Provides second level support on complex desktop issues.
Provides technical guidance and coaching for the computer operations and desktop teams.
Works with the Associate Vice President and peers to develop and sets strategic direction for the infrastructure, computer operations and desktop support for the foundation and RUAA.
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of efficient, cost-effective, strategic technology systems that support the goals of the foundation and the RUAA.
Directs and implements the highest level of cost-effective support for the foundation and RUAA staff.
Develops, documents and executes service level standards, policies and procedures for the help desk and computer operations staff
Researches, develops and implements computer operations hardware and software purchases and budgets.
Recommends options for ongoing improvement of service.

Preferred Qualifications: A masters or an advanced degree preferred.
Knowledge of Commvault is a plus.
Experience with Azure is a plus.
Knowledge of SLA's is a plus.
Knowledge of MS SQL Server is a plus.
Knowledge of VMWare is a plus.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Expert, hands-on knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Dell hardware.
Ability to quickly and efficiently diagnose and resolve operating system and hardware issues. Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Hands on knowledge of virtualized environments.
Experience with complex backup systems and policies.
Knowledge of cloud computing as IaaS.
Expert in customer service and desktop support.
Experience with network operations and troubleshooting networking issues.
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
