Reporting to the Director of Freshman Academic Programs, provide support for freshman academic programs through Undergraduate Studies, including the Early Success Program (ESP), Freshman Summer Reading, and Academic Support Programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Student Advising and Coaching: 50% - Essential
Assists director in academic advising and academic coaching responsibilities through regular one-on-one meetings with Early Success Program (ESP) students; Assists ESP students in their academic, personal, and social development; Serves as resource, and support person for freshman students; Provides support for CU 1010 course for ESP students; Communicates weekly with ESP students and parents regarding each student's academic success and compliance with ESP requirements.
Program support: 30% - Essential
Designs and implements Peer Mentor training; Plans academic skill building, team building, study halls, and social events for summer program participants; Assists with planning and execution of ESP student and parent welcome activities; Assists with orientation and registration during ESP orientation session; Assists director with management of student Peer Mentors; with the approval of the director, hires mentors, directs the work and schedules; approves time cards.
Program Development: 20% - Essential -
Assists with the development and implementation of Freshman Summer Reading program. Assists with implementation of New Student Convocation; Assists with event coordination, i.e. scheduling, reserving, distribution of materials, etc.
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
Supervises Work of Others - Supervises work of others and may offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself
Master's degree in Student Affairs or related field.
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 04 Salary range is $32,324 to $38,664.
Employees who are in time limited positions will earn one and one-quarter days of Annual and Sick Leave per month for a total of thirty (30) days per year. Eligible part-timers will earn days on a pro rata basis.
