Transfer/Access Center (RN) Registered Nurse.This position is 9a-6:30p 4 days a week and every third weekend.
** REQUIRED : Five years ED/ICU experience
RN Access Center , Responsible for coordinating direct admissions and hospital transfers to an appropriate HCA/HealthONE Denver hospital. Coordinate ambulance transfers from the HCA/HealthONE Denver hospitals to other facilities and post acute care providers. Work as a consumer-responsive transfer and transport call center, respond to all callers with the aid of a computer and database of service profiles, and approve clinical protocols and healthcare information.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Use and follow specific protocols, policies, procedures, and established resources.
Work collaboratively with team members ensuring appropriate patient admission.
Accept all hospital transfers. Must be proficient in EMTALA.
Consult with on-call physicians on patient care and advise when appropriate.
Establish and maintain a high degree of awareness and knowledge of hospitals' medical staff, services, and special programs.
Assist in data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and analyzing of triage problems for the purpose of developing and implementing protocols, policies, and procedures.
Exhibit excellent customer relationship skills, including telephone and personal contact with all of the call center's customer groups (i.e. physicians and their office staffs, callers, and fellow employees).
Maintain composure and customer service oriented communication with challenging callers.
Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement."
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION Graduate from an accredited nursing school required. BSN preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive nursing experience.
ICU and ED background
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE – RN License in the State of Colorado required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS - Requires prolonged sitting, bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriately. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 20 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with physicians and their offices to coordinate admission.
Problem-solving skills to determine the best course of action which will be satisfactory to the patient, the physicians, and the hospital.
Knowledge of basic hospital services.
Ability to analyze information of a complex nature.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Internet searches, and relevant data bases.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to follow through on issues.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
Ability to work effectively with other employees and external parties.
