Oregon State University Libraries & Press (OSULP) is seeking a Building and Space Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the OSULP Director.
This position resides in the Library Experience and Access Department (LEAD) of The Valley Library. LEAD is responsible for ensuring that service and space designs in the physical and virtual realms meet library users' current and future needs. LEAD is continually cultivating an innovative environment of learning and engagement that empowers students and faculty.
Reporting to the head of the LEAD, the Building and Space Coordinator ensures that users experience safe, functional, efficient and aesthetically pleasing facilities throughout the Valley Library. The Coordinator anticipates upgrades to furnishings, equipment, and facilities as part of an overall space framework that addresses next generation needs of OSU Valley Library users as well as OSU Libraries and Press (OSULP) personnel. For mechanical system related repairs, this position will coordinate with appropriate OSU facilities department. The Coordinator will gain a thorough understanding of OSULP's space needs in order to help create an environment where each library user is valued as an individual and provided with the best possible learning and research opportunities. These goals will be accomplished by working collaboratively with colleagues in LEAD and with library administration to assess, plan, and implement changes. The Coordinator represents OSULP with appropriate university departments and external contractors to determine and address ongoing and future facility needs. The Coordinator will determine approximate costs, manage physical resource needs, coordinate design, construction, cleaning, maintenance, and security services. This position also serves on the Library Disaster Response & Recovery Team and assists with recovery activities in the event of an emergency. The position includes a strong element of project planning and management, and involves forecasting space needs based on trends in user services as well as student demographics.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in field related to assigned responsibilities. Experience with information management systems, facility management, custodial work, staff training and staff supervision.
Requirements :Associate's degree with certification/licensing program such as Facility Management Professional or Bachelor's degree OR combination of education and experience.
2 years of supervisory experience.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of managing building operations/services including routine maintaince.
Experience conducting daily building walkthroughs and coordinating necessary repairs/updates.
Knowledge of fire, and health and safety inspections and protocols.
Knowledge of designing flexible, transformative learning spaces.
Experience working with various diverse stakeholders, creating work orders, and working with vendors.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
Type:Typical hours Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, with standard 40-hour work week.
Flexibility required to oversee day, night and weekend building functions.
Must be on call for building emergencies.
Salary (Minimum): $31,512
Salary (Maximum): $53,460
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
