The coordinator of student disability resources is responsible for providing support to students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding student disability-related needs. The coordinator, in collaboration with the assistant dean for disability resources, implements accommodations for students with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and related laws, and College policy. This position also serves as part of the Academic Advising team, and works closely with other offices such as Residence Life, Facilities Management, Dining Services, Admission, and Registrar, etc., to facilitate access for students. This position will review diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations, support student development, and provide academic success coaching to students with disabilities. The coordinator will also work closely with the coordinator of assistive technology and the assistant dean to provide campus-wide training on access for students with disabilities.
B.A. or B.S. degree in education, special education, psychology, sociology, or a related field. At least three years of experience working with students in a postsecondary educational setting. Must possess excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
M.A. or M.S. degree in education, special education, psychology, counseling, communication disorders or a related field. At least one year of professional experience working with individuals with disabilities in a postsecondary educational setting.
