Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland is searching for a Creative Movement, Dance and Theatre teacher in the Lower and Middle School beginning in fall 2017.
The K-2 program will consist of twice weekly classes for each grade level which incorporate creative movement and provide a foundation of theatrical skills through exploratory activities. The 3rd – 5th grade program will include co-directing and producing class productions, integrating initiatives with classroom teachers and choreographing the 5th Grade Musical. The Middle School component of the position will also include a combination of teaching sections of Middle School Dance classes, choreographing the Middle School musical and possibly serving as a Middle School or Upper School after-school dance activity coach or Upper School musical choreographer.
Responsibilities will include:
Developing an engaging Lower School movement and theatre curriculum
Planning and leading classes and rehearsals, collaborating with the MS-US Dance Teacher, directing and producing 3-5th productions
Choreographing several musicals
Collaborating with additional arts dept and Lower School colleagues and providing artistic enrichment experiences for Lower School students
Candidates should have a considerable dance teaching, theatre and choreography background. Candidates should have extensive experience working with primary, elementary and middle school aged-students. High school-age teaching experience is also advantageous. This teacher will report primarily to the Lower School Principal and secondarily to the Middle School Principal and Visual and Performing Arts Director. This person should have excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.
This is a full-time position with compensation commensurate with prior experience and qualifications.
