The Assistant Director of Admissions serves as a member of the Cardozo School of Law Admissions Committee, and evaluates a significant portion of the applicant pool each year. The Assistant Director also serves as a primary contact for prospective student inquiries, and contributes to the transfer/visiting and Master of Laws (LL.M.) admissions programs. The successful candidate assists in the management of the admissions database and the transmission of data into the University student information system; develops and analyzes statistical reports; and oversees the operations of the application evaluation process, ensuring that admissions decisions are rendered appropriately and in a timely fashion.
Read and evaluate a significant portion of the JD applicant pool each year
Interview candidates and make decisions and recommendations to the Dean of Admissions
Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective student inquiries via email, telephone, and in person
Assist in the coordination of all communications to the admitted student population intended to increase yield. Contributes significantly to the coordination and execution of all yield events and activities for admitted students.
Assist in the management of the admissions database (ACES2) and the transmission of admissions data into the University student information system
Develop and analyze statistical applicant and enrollment reports on a regular basis. In this capacity, also oversees the operations of the application evaluation process, ensuring that admissions decisions are rendered appropriately and in a timely fashion
Serve as editor for all content posted to the admissions section of the Cardozo website
Contribute to the transfer/visiting and Master of Laws (LL.M.) admissions processes and recruitment of these student populations
Travel extensively to recruit applicants and to meet with admitted students at receptions around the country
Take on special projects and additional responsibilities as requested by the Dean of Admissions
Experience and Educational Background:
3-5 years professional experience required
Experience in law, graduate, or undergraduate admissions preferred
J.D. or other advanced degree strongly preferred
