Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution in an appropriate field with two (2) years relevant experience required. Ability to forge collaborative relationships, work effectively in a team environment and interact with staff and leadership at all levels of the organization. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects, and respond to competing deadlines required. Preferred qualifications: Experience working with and leading online communities in a professional development context; experience in the review and selection of online collaboration platforms; experience creating and supporting web sites and blog sites; knowledge of the SUNY System and experience working with campus staff; and knowledge of SUNY University-wide programs and services. Experience with online platforms to support virtual communication and collaboration on a large scale, including configuration and set up of collaboration spaces. Experience working with social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other current outlets.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: Under the general guidance of the Director of the SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD), the Community Manager is responsible for leading SUNY's communities of practice efforts to build capacity among campus and system organizations and individuals to advance The Power of SUNY. In particular, this position will support and actively engage SUNY communities, groups and organizations in collaborative activities within the SUNY Learning Commons, a faculty and staff communication and collaboration platform, linking people and resources throughout the system. The Community Manager will provide leadership for the utilization of the Learning Commons, including support to community leaders in establishing and facilitating groups and advancing best practices in community collaboration, and will lead both face-to-face and virtual community building efforts. The Community Manager will work with SUNY System leaders to support their initiatives and to create awareness of community building opportunities they can leverage to advance SUNY priorities within the System. The Community Manager will strategize with SUNY System-wide community leaders to facilitate engagement and support regional and cross-campus efforts. In addition, the Community Manager will work to grow the CPD's presence in the system's professional development community through current social media platforms and outlets. The Community Manager supports campus constituents in their utilization of the Learning Commons to access cross-campus and multi-disciplinary resources, share and access materials and best practices within a community of practice and operate collaborative tools that allow learners and educators to work together actively at a distance.
